On 11/16/2005, the vessel ACADIENNE GALE II (Official Number 821367) was involved in a risk of sinking in 45 NM NE OF WHITE BEAR ISLAND, LABRADOR, NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR (NL).
The vessel, with 29 persons on board, experienced the incident while engaged in regular operations. Fortunately, the ship was able to continue its voyage. No injuries or fatalities were reported, and there was none pollution.
This incident was officially recorded by Transport Canada on 2/28/2006 . Weather at the time was reported as snow with winds from the NNW at 40.00 knots.
Vessel took on water in the steering well. Water coming from around the rudder post. Makeshift clamps were install to retain the top sealing ring in place. Submersible pump set to expel water. Permanent repair carried out in dry dock.
