On 09 December 2014, the tug "ISLAND DEFENDER", with 4 people on board and while towing the barge "PCC DISTRIBUTER", reported a complete failure of the generator causing a blackout in Captain's Passage, BC. The vessel switched to emergency steering and repairs were effected.
