On 11/12/2020, the vessel SKOGAFOSS (Official Number 4606) was involved in a bottom contact in St. Anthony, NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR (NL).
The vessel, with 12 persons on board, experienced the incident while engaged in regular operations. Fortunately, the ship was able to continue its voyage. No injuries or fatalities were reported, and there was minor pollution.
This incident was officially recorded by Transport Canada on 11/13/2020. Weather at the time was reported as clear with winds from the W at knots.
On 12 November 2020, the container ship "SKOGAFOSS" made contact with the bottom and with buoy KA2.2 while approaching the dock in St. Anthony Harbour, NL. The winds in the harbour at the time were from the west at 35 knots. The vessel manoeuvred out of the harbour following the incident. The following morning, the vessel returned to St. Anthony. A diver inspected the vessel and noted that a number of the controllable pitch propeller blades were damaged and that oil was leaking from the stern area.
