On 12/23/2008, the vessel LAKE MICHIGAN (Official Number 833200) was involved in a total failure of any machinery or technical system in BAIE COMEAU, QC, QUEBEC (QC).
The vessel, with 25 persons on board, experienced the incident while engaged in regular operations. Fortunately, the ship was able to continue its voyage. No injuries or fatalities were reported, and there was pollution.

On 23 December 2008, while docking at Cargill dock facilities in Baie Comeau, Quebec, the windlass on the bulk carrier "LAKE MICHIGAN" went free. One anchor was accidently dropped in the water and the windlass was damaged.
