On 5/24/2018 , the vessel MERCURY XVI (Official Number 826785) was involved in a grounding - under power (non-intentional) in West Thurlow Island, BRITISH COLUMBIA (BC).
The vessel, with 3 persons on board, experienced the incident while engaged in regular operations. Fortunately, the ship was able to continue its voyage. No injuries or fatalities were reported, and there was unknown pollution.

On 24 May 2018, the tug "MERCURY XVI", with 3 people on board and a concrete dock and a floating fish lodge in tow, reported being grounded due to the crewmember on the wheel failed to make a required course alteration while transiting the Green Point Rapids in Cordero Channel, BC. The assist tug "INLET WRANGLER" took over the 2 tows from the vessel and it refloated in high tide with the support of another assist tug "NIGHT DRIFTER". After floated free, the vessel took over its 2 tows and completed its voyage to Bones Bay, BC. without any further incident. No pollution or injury reported; however, the vessel sustained minor damage to its starboard propeller.
