While proceeding downbound on the St. Lawrence River under the conduct of a pilot, the vessel lost steering control and ran aground at 1329 on the Battures de Gentilly, 1.25 miles northeast of Bécancour wharf, Quebec. About 48 hours later, it was refloated on the first attempt using tugs. The vessel sustained hull damage, which required repairs. There were no injuries or pollution as a result of this occurrence.
