On 27 June 2012, the F/V "GARLAND'S PRIDE NO. 1" had an explosion and fire in the engine room 4 miles off Magdalene Islands, Quebec. Two POB abandoned the vessel and were picked up by a f/vl, brought to hospital and treated for hypothermia.. Damage to the vessel was indicated as CONSTRUCTIVE TOTAL LOSS
