On 10/6/2002 , the vessel DAVID Z. NORTON (Official Number 549231) was involved in a total failure of any machinery or technical system in ENTRANCE TO ST.CLAIR CUT-OFF, ONT., ONTARIO (ON).
The vessel, with 27 persons on board, experienced the incident while engaged in regular operations. Fortunately, the ship was able to continue its voyage. No injuries or fatalities were reported, and there was none pollution.
This incident was officially recorded by Transport Canada on 10/30/2002. Weather at the time was reported as clear with winds from the E at 8.00 knots.
On 06 October 2002, the upbd U.S.bulker "DAVID Z.NORTON"lost electrical power which caused the main engine to de-clutch. Stb anchor dropped & fouled buoy 'X32' dragging it 33m off position . At 0910 v/ continued.
