On 4/9/1997 1, the vessel MONA PEARL (Official Number 371154) was involved in a grounding - not under power (includes drifting) (non-intentional) in HARDY COVE,BAY OF FUNDY, N.S.,.

The vessel, with 2 persons on board, experienced the incident while engaged in regular operations. Fortunately, the ship was able to continue its voyage. No injuries or fatalities were reported, and there was minor pollution.

This incident was officially recorded by Transport Canada on 3/3/1998 9. Weather at the time was reported as clear with winds from the W at 25.00 knots.

While returning to Digby, Nova Scotia, from scallop grounds in the Bay of Fundy, the fishing vessel "MONA PEARL" grounded on a rising tide in Hardy Cove. The two crew were forced to abandon the vessel and get into a liferaft. They were rescued by local residents who had observed the vessel's progress along the coast and become concerned. The vessel was subsequently declared a constructive total loss.
