On 30 October 2017, the tug "SEASPAN PROTECTOR", while towing 3 loaded wood chip barges, collided with the fishing net of the fishing vessel "CHRISTIE PASS" near Nanaimo, BC. The tug "SEASPAN PROTECTOR" handed off the barges to the tugs "SEA IMP 12" and "HELEN J". The fishing vessel reported as disabled due to tangled fishing net in the propeller. The fishing vessel was towed to Nanaimo, BC by a Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue vessel.
