On 3/19/1995 , the vessel CYDRIK J. (Official Number 348628) was involved in a sank - founders (taking on water above the waterline) in SMITH INLET, B.C.,.

The vessel, with 3 persons on board, experienced the incident while engaged in regular operations. There were No injuries but 1 fatalities were reported, and there was none pollution.

CYDRIK J sank with her bow down and part of her stern above water. Search for the crew was initiated and the deceased operator, wearing a floater jacket, was located about 50 metres off the beach, 2 other POB are missing and presumed drowned.. Damage to the vessel was indicated as CONSTRUCTIVE TOTAL LOSS
