On 22 August 2018, the fishing vessel "ALERT", with 5 people on board and while under tow by the vessel "ELVAGENE", sank due to strong current off Kelsey Bay near Hardwicke Island in Johnstone Strait, BC. The vessel "ELVAGENE" retrieved all persons from the water and proceeded to Seattle, WA. Canadian Coast Guard vessels were on scene to assist. No injuries, but minor pollution was reported.
