On 26 November 2017, the articulated tug and barge unit "JAKE SHEARER" and the loaded tanker barge "ZIDELL MARINE 277" became disconnected in Queen Charlotte Sound, BC. The barge was required to have its anchors deployed to avoid grounding. The tug sustained damage to its hull when the connecting pins disconnected from the barge in rough sea conditions. The tug "GULF CAJUN" subsequently towed the barge to Norman Morrison Bay, BC.
