On 7/22/2001 , the vessel CARIBIC STAR (Official Number 9304) was involved in a striking - allision with a fixed object (striking - includes berthed/docked vessels) in ABOVE LOCK 7, WELLAND CANAL, ONTARIO (ON).
The vessel, with 100 persons on board, experienced the incident while engaged in regular operations. Fortunately, the ship was able to continue its voyage. No injuries or fatalities were reported, and there was pollution.
This incident was officially recorded by Transport Canada on 10/10/2001. Weather at the time was reported as clear with winds from the W at 5.00 knots.
On 22 July 2001, with a pilot aboard while making the approach wall above Lock 7, Welland Canal, the passenger vessel "ARCADIA" at 1805 struck the wall with her starboard propeller causing damage. The vessel was inspected and divers assessed damage.
