On 29 November 2020, the loaded barge "SEASPAN 565" towed by the tug "SEASPAN TEMPEST" reported that its' towline parted and the barge broke free while the tug and the barge were taking a turn in Parsons Channel, BC. The drifted barge then struck a floating net storage structure and the non-commercial fishing vessel "RIVER MIST", which were moored at a dock on Barnston Island, BC. The "RIVER MIST" sustained major damage on its hull and later sank. Minor pollution was reported.
