On 2/14/1996 , the vessel PRODIGY (Official Number 8103286) was involved in a total failure of any machinery or technical system in OUTER ANCHORAGE, VANCOUVER HARBOUR, B.C.,.

The vessel, with 24 persons on board, experienced the incident while engaged in regular operations. Fortunately, the ship was able to continue its voyage. No injuries or fatalities were reported, and there was pollution.

While under pilotage, vessel suffered main engine failure on each of two successive attempts that it attempted to move from Vancouver outer anchorage to berth. Vessel reanchored and later moved as deadship with tug assistance.
