The vessel, with 6 persons on board, experienced the incident while engaged in regular operations.
There were 0 injuries and fatalities were reported, and there was minor pollution.
Whilst enroute to the fishing grounds a fire broke out in the engine room. The 6 crew were forced to abandon ship into an 18' skiff. The crew landed in Alliston and called MRSC St. John's. No mayday sent due to the rapid spread of the fire.. Damage to the vessel was indicated as TOTAL LOSS
Weather at the time was reported as fog with winds from the SW at 15.00 knots. This incident was officially recorded by Transport Canada on 6/24/1997 .
