On 1/27/1997 , the vessel BOW MARINER (Official Number 7313) was involved in a total failure of any machinery or technical system in OFF POTASH BERTH, SAINT JOHN HARBOUR, N.B.,.

The vessel, with 31 persons on board, experienced the incident while engaged in regular operations. Fortunately, the ship was able to continue its voyage. No injuries or fatalities were reported, and there was none pollution.

This incident was officially recorded by Transport Canada on 2/18/1997 . Weather at the time was reported as with winds from the SW at 15.00 knots.

Vessel leaving port when all power to the main engine was lost. Three tugs ordered as a precautionary measure. Vessel returned to potash berth under pilotage.
