On 3/12/2003 , the vessel FEDERAL RHINE (Official Number 725435) was involved in a person seriously injured or killed - in contact with any part of the ship or its contents in HONGUEDO STRAIGHT, QUEBEC (QC).
The vessel, with 21 persons on board, experienced the incident while engaged in regular operations. Fortunately, the ship was able to continue its voyage. No injuries or fatalities were reported, and there was none pollution.
This incident was officially recorded by Transport Canada on 3/24/2003 . Weather at the time was reported as clear with winds from the W at 2.00 knots.
The second engineer of the "FEDERAL RHINE" had his middle finger on left hand severed. Crew member medevac by tug at Baie Comeau.
