On 4/12/2017 , the vessel FEDERAL EMS (Official Number 5610) was involved in a total failure of any machinery or technical system in Gaspé, QC, QUEBEC (QC).

The vessel, with 21 persons on board, experienced the incident while engaged in regular operations. No injuries or fatalities were reported, and there was none pollution.

On 12 April 2017, the bulk carrier "FEDERAL EMS" reported the failure of its main engine cooling system 91 nautical miles ESE of Gaspé, QC. The vessel was set adrift in order for the crew to carry out the repairs.. Damage to the vessel was indicated as UNKNOWN
