On 2/28/2017 , the vessel VELA OCEAN (Official Number 397896) was involved in a total failure of any machinery or technical system in Becancourt, QC, QUEBEC (QC).

The vessel, with 21 persons on board, experienced the incident while engaged in regular operations. No injuries or fatalities were reported, and there was none pollution.

On 28 February 2017, the bulk carrier "VELA OCEAN" had to anchor due to a leaking main engine cylinder water jacket. The vessel anchored at Batiscan, QC for repairs.
