On 3/30/2005 , the vessel SANDY BEACH (Official Number 392064) was involved in a sank - flooding in OFF POINTE HEATH, ANTICOSTI ISLAND, GOLFE DU SAINT-LAURENT, QUEBEC (QC).

The vessel, with 5 persons on board, experienced the incident while engaged in regular operations. Fortunately, the ship was able to continue its voyage. No injuries or fatalities were reported, and there was unknown pollution.

This incident was officially recorded by Transport Canada on 4/28/2005 . Weather at the time was reported as rain with winds from the NE at 40.00 knots.

F/V "SANDY BEACH", with 5 POB, engaged in seal hunting sustained engine problems. As the situation worsened they radioed a MAYDAY. A SAR mission has been launched. The 5 crew members were helihoisted and brought ashore. The vessel abandoned.
