On 6/27/2018 , the vessel MAERSK BERING (Official Number 391465) was involved in a total failure of any machinery or technical system in Vancouver, BRITISH COLUMBIA (BC).

The vessel, with 24 persons on board, experienced the incident while engaged in regular operations. No injuries or fatalities were reported, and there was none pollution.

On 27 June 2018, the product/chemical tanker "MAERSK BERING", under the conduct of a pilot, reported a propulsion failure whilst approaching anchorage 9 at English Bay, BC. The vessel deployed its starboard anchor to arrest the vessel's forward movement.. Damage to the vessel was indicated as UNKNOWN

Weather at the time was reported as clear with winds from the NW at knots. This incident was officially recorded by Transport Canada on 6/28/2018 .
