On 8/12/1996 , the vessel RISING SUN (Official Number 346743) was involved in a fire in AT SEA ABOUT 25 MILES EAST OF CAPE RACE, NFLD.,.

The vessel, with 4 persons on board, experienced the incident while engaged in regular operations. Fortunately, the ship was able to continue its voyage. No injuries or fatalities were reported, and there was minor pollution.

This incident was officially recorded by Transport Canada on 9/30/1996 . Weather at the time was reported as fog with winds from the SW at 15.00 knots.

FV Rising Sun reported fire in the engine room whilst approximatly 25 miles East of Cape Race. Crew abandoned into a dory and were picked up by FV Neal and Natalie. Vessel reported burning out of control. Crew landed at Fermuese.
