On 5/1/2001 1, the vessel ZIM PACIFIC (Official Number 345) was involved in a striking - allision with a fixed object (striking - includes berthed/docked vessels) in PIER 41, HALTERM CONTAINER PIER HALIFAX, NS, NOVA SCOTIA (NS).
The vessel, with 19 persons on board, experienced the incident while engaged in regular operations. Fortunately, the ship was able to continue its voyage. No injuries or fatalities were reported, and there was none pollution.
This incident was officially recorded by Transport Canada on 10/11/2001. Weather at the time was reported as clear with winds from the WSW at 18.00 knots.
The M/V "ZIM PACIFIC," while having engine control difficulties, struck the pier incurring damage to her port quarter and possibly her bulbous bow. Vessel came to rest alongside and was secured.
