On 10/2/2016 , the vessel SEA BIRD V (Official Number 331317) was involved in a grounding - under power (non-intentional) in south of Yellowknife, Great Slave Lake, NORTHWEST TERRITORIES (NT).
The vessel, with 2 persons on board, experienced the incident while engaged in regular operations. Fortunately, the ship was able to continue its voyage. No injuries or fatalities were reported, and there was none pollution.

On 02 October 2016, the tug "SEA BIRD" grounded with a barge in tow approximately 10 nautical miles south of Yellowknife in Great Slave Lake, NT. The 2 people on board the tug were rescued by the Coast Guard rescue auxiliary vessel "NICK MARTIN" out of Yellowknife. There were no injuries and no pollution reported. The tug and barge were refloated on 05 October 2016. The tug had damage to the hull allowing water ingress and requiring repair.
