On 2/18/1996 , the vessel WOLCO VI (Official Number 331293) was involved in a sank - founders (taking on water above the waterline) in KWATNA INLET, B.C.,.

The vessel, with 2 persons on board, experienced the incident while engaged in regular operations. There were No injuries but 1 fatalities were reported, and there was minor pollution.

While engaged in forestry operations off the Odyssey Camp, the small yarding tug "WOLCO VI" took on water, heeled heavily to port, downflooded, and sank when the tug operator tried to haul a heavy granite (stone) anchor along the sea-bed. The operator became trapped inside the tug and lost his life, but the deck-hand managed to escape. He radioed for help on his portable radiotelephone and was rescued shortly thereafter by the logging camp helicopter that responded to the call. . Damage to the vessel was indicated as TOTAL LOSS

Weather at the time was reported as fog. This incident was officially recorded by Transport Canada on 2/19/1996 .
