On 1/29/2019 , the vessel CAPTAIN JIM (Official Number 328374) was involved in a sank - founders (taking on water above the waterline) in Devils Island, NS, NOVA SCOTIA (NS).
The vessel, with 2 persons on board, experienced the incident while engaged in regular operations. Fortunately, the ship was able to continue its voyage. No injuries or fatalities were reported, and there was unknown pollution.
This incident was officially recorded by Transport Canada on 1/29/2019 . Weather at the time was reported as clear with winds from the NNE at knots.
On 29 January 2019, the workboat "CAPTAIN JIM", with 3 people on board, reported being disabled and taking on water 0.79 nautical miles west of Devils Island, Nova Scotia. A short time later, the vessel sank rapidly. One person was able to jump from the sinking vessel to a life raft which had been inflated and positioned alongside. A second person surfaced near the life raft and was assisted on to the life raft. The 2 survivors were recovered from the life raft by the Halifax Harbour pilot boat and taken to Halifax, NS. Divers located the body of a third person inside the vessel's wheelhouse later that day. The vessel was recovered on 07 February 2019.
