On 9/11/2004 , the vessel BARGE A397 (Official Number 290177 ) was involved in a striking - allision with a fixed object (striking - includes berthed/docked vessels) in LT. D33 NEAR AMHERSTBURG, ONT., ONTARIO (ON).

The vessel, with 0 persons on board, experienced the incident while engaged in regular operations. Fortunately, the ship was able to continue its voyage. No injuries or fatalities were reported, and there was none pollution.

This incident was officially recorded by Transport Canada on 9/11/2004 . Weather at the time was reported as clear with winds from the SW at 15.00 knots.

Early in the morning of 11 September 2004, while upbound in Canadian waters in the lower Detroit River, the barge A-397, pushed by the tug Karen Andrie, struck and knocked down Bar Point Pier Light D33. The barge was holed but remained afloat.
