On 11/4/2005 , the vessel PUFFIN (Official Number 2543) was involved in a striking - allision with a fixed object (striking - includes berthed/docked vessels) in LOCK#1 APPROACH WALL, WELLAND CANAL, ONTARIO (ON).
The vessel, with 18 persons on board, experienced the incident while engaged in regular operations. Fortunately, the ship was able to continue its voyage. No injuries or fatalities were reported, and there was pollution.
This incident was officially recorded by Transport Canada on 11/7/2005 . Weather at the time was reported as clear with winds from the SW at 13.00 knots.
On 04 Nov. 2005, at 2030, while proceeding upbound in the Welland Canal the bulk carrier "PUFFIN" lost power and struck the #1 Lock approaching wall.
