On 9/23/1997 , the vessel BLUENOSE (Official Number 198334) was involved in a total failure of any machinery or technical system in 1.2 MILES SOUTH OF CAPE FOURCHU, BAY OF FUNDY.,.
The vessel, with 58 persons on board, experienced the incident while engaged in regular operations. Fortunately, the ship was able to continue its voyage. No injuries or fatalities were reported, and there was pollution.
This incident was officially recorded by Transport Canada on 10/14/1997. Weather at the time was reported as clear with winds from the SW at 11.00 knots.
The excitation current to #2 generator was lost causing overload of the remaining generator resulting in a power failure. Anchor crew standing by, rudder hard to starboard as the vessel coasted away from any danger. Power restored at 1854Z.
