On 12/3/2003 , the vessel JO SPIRIT (Official Number 10895) was involved in a total failure of any machinery or technical system in OFF CAP BRULE, ST. LAWRENCE RIVER, QC., QUEBEC (QC).

The vessel, with 16 persons on board, experienced the incident while engaged in regular operations. Fortunately, the ship was able to continue its voyage. No injuries or fatalities were reported, and there was none pollution.

This incident was officially recorded by Transport Canada on 12/8/2003 . Weather at the time was reported as clear with winds from the N at 10.00 knots.

While upbound in the river the M/V "JO SPIRIT" experienced steering gear problems. After a thorough inspection no malfunction was noted.
